Computer Simulations of Charged Systems

چکیده
In this brief contribution to the Proceedings of the NATO-ASI on " Electrostatic Effects in Soft Matter and Biophysics " [1], which took place in Les Houches from Oct. 1-13, 2000, we summarize in short aspects of the simulations methods to study charged systems. After describing some basics of Monte Carlo and Molecular dynamics techniques, we describe a few methods to compute long range interactions in periodic systems. After a brief detour to mean-field models, we describe our results obtained for flexible polyelectrolytes in good and bad solvents. We follow with a description of the inhomogeneity of the counterion distribution around finite chains, and continue then with infinitely long, rodlike systems. The last part is devoted to the phenomenon of overcharging for colloidal particles and its explanation in terms of simple electrostatic arguments.

CuAu structure in the restricted primitive model and oppositely charged colloids.
We study the phase behavior of oppositely charged equal-size hard spheres both theoretically and experimentally, using Monte Carlo simulations and confocal microscopy. In the simulations, two systems are considered: the restricted primitive model (RPM) and a system of screened Coulomb particles. We construct the phase diagrams of both systems by computer simulations and predict a novel solid ph...
متن کاملSIMULATING CONTINUOUS FUZZY SYSTEMS: I
In previous studies we first concentrated on utilizing crisp simulationto produce discrete event fuzzy systems simulations. Then we extendedthis research to the simulation of continuous fuzzy systems models. In this paperwe continue our study of continuous fuzzy systems using crisp continuoussimulation. Consider a crisp continuous system whose evolution depends ondifferential equations. Such a ...
متن کاملDesign of a Novel Framework to Control Nonlinear Affine Systems Based on Fast Terminal Sliding-Mode Controller
In this paper, a novel approach for finite-time stabilization of uncertain affine systems is proposed. In the proposed approach, a fast terminal sliding mode (FTSM) controller is designed, based on the input-output feedback linearization of the nonlinear system with considering its internal dynamics. One of the main advantages of the proposed approach is that only the outputs and external state...

The present study encompasses a new method to simultaneous analysis, design and optimization of Water Distribution Systems (WDSs). In this method, analysis procedure is carried out using Charged System Search (CSS) optimization algorithm. Besides design and cost optimization of WDSs are performed simultaneous with analysis process using a new objective function in order to satisfying the analys...
متن کاملOptimal Finite-time Control of Positive Linear Discrete-time Systems
This paper considers solving optimization problem for linear discrete time systems such that closed-loop discrete-time system is positive (i.e., all of its state variables have non-negative values) and also finite-time stable. For this purpose, by considering a quadratic cost function, an optimal controller is designed such that in addition to minimizing the cost function, the positivity proper...
